GUIAR

Mission Statement

The Graduate and Undergraduate Initiative for Advancement and Resources (GUIAR) mentorship program was created with the goal to cultivate lasting connections among graduate and undergraduate Latinx students at Northwestern. GUIAR is a program formed by members and is associated with the larger Latinx graduate student group Comunidad Latinx (CLX). We hope that members of the program also participate in CLX events more broadly. We also hope that this program will create an opportunity for graduate students to improve their mentoring skills and undergraduate students to receive mentorship from Latinx scholars who are aware and sensitive to issues that our community faces both outside and within higher education. Through this mentorship, we hope to create connections that can uplift Latinx undergraduates and increase their chances of success, while providing a space for graduate students to share their experiences and shape future generations of Latinx scholars.
